“tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all”
History of Elden
Motor racing history is peppered with individuals and companies that have had a go at designing, building and racing. Over 150 different makes of Formula Ford alone have come and most have gone, but all have striven to make it big in motorsport.
Elden is one such company. The pages and notes on this site form a potted history of the highs and lows of this Kentish racing car manufacturer. In many ways it is typical of many of the manufacturers of the seventies – always striving to be at the leading edge of technology, whilst at the same time being on the trailing edge of finance!
One day perhaps a book will spring from this brief beginning, so if you have ever been involved in Elden as a racer, owner, sponsor, builder or in any other way, please take a few minutes to jot down your memories and send us a copy.
We will be most grateful.
It all started in the late 1950’s…
Over 250 cars were produced across 37 different designs, some of which incorporated innovations ahead of their time.
The Cars will give you an overview of the cars that left the factory gates.
